Just found this good list:

http://www.cyclosport.org/events2008.aspx

I'm unavailable for the rest of this month as I'm off on a 5-day Inner and Outer Hebrides cycle-trek this Saturday () but I'm keen to do at least one or two sportives in Aug - Oct.

These ones look quite good:

The Southern Sportive - Sunday 14th September 2008: http://www.cyclosport.org/article.aspx?id=168&eventid=34

Tour of Dartmoor - Saturday 27th September 2008: http://www.cyclosport.org/article.aspx?id=435&eventid=373

Thanks to ciron for your hospitality on a very very very hard Dragon ride weekend. Although feeling sick after 40miles, I was relived to complete the ride. Thanks to all those who gave encouragement.

I got back to the house had a wash and a snack, felt better, so I decided to drive back.

On the way out I had a chat with your neighbour who sends her best wishes.

Where do you want me to drop of the key, I could do it next Sunday before my ride if ok.

OK so quite a few of us have entered the Dragon it seems.

As many of you know, I have access to accommodation in the area, assuming my Gran is still around. Here's the info from the old forum.

--------

My Gran has a house (she is currently in a nursing home) in the Rhondda Valley, which is part of the route. It's at the bottom of the valley after the Rhigos and just before the Bwlch climbs near Treorchy. It's a bit of a distance frm the start and finish, but probably quite a tempting ...

...and before you ask, yes I did walk up Hard Knott

You've seen the pictures, you've read the blogs but simply nothing can prepare you for the moment when you clap eyes on it 100 miles (yes 100 miles) into the ride. You're riding through a leafy tree lined road and the vegetation gradually thins out. Birds are singing. Sheep are baa-ing. A sheer wall then appears in front of you with a ladder ...

as etape time closes, 'other' james gave me a CD that previews the etape on video, the route, the climbs etc. i suggest for a social, we can gather at a house, have some pizza, beers and get ready for the pain that is likely to ensue. i mean, the best way would be to ride the stage before hand... haha, we all know that is not going to happen, so let's make a date perhaps at the end of may as june for many of us will be quite busy...

Time to think about turning those pedals to help someone else!

For those of you interested in the possibility of doing a Charity Marathon Spin, I am hoping to arrange one through the Crouch End YMCA gym. The initial proposed date is May 18th., which is also the date of the 10K Run and Fun Runs based in Priory Park. I have 3 or 4 people from the YMCA who are happy to participate, and would expect each person to spin from 1 to 2 hours in shifts, with at least 2 bikes being used at all times ...

For any of the budding racers among you, there three races left in in the Imperial Winter Series at the Hillingdon cycle circuit. They consist of riding for 35 mins + 5 laps.

Races will be on February 2, 9 and 16. Starting at 12:30, expect to ride for 50mins.

To speed things up on the day you can pre register here.
