Sportives this season
Just found this good list:
http://www.cyclosport.org/events2008.aspx
I'm unavailable for the rest of this month as I'm off on a 5-day Inner and Outer Hebrides cycle-trek this Saturday () but I'm keen to do at least one or two sportives in Aug - Oct.
These ones look quite good:
The Southern Sportive - Sunday 14th September 2008: http://www.cyclosport.org/article.aspx?id=168&eventid=34
Tour of Dartmoor - Saturday 27th September 2008: http://www.cyclosport.org/article.aspx?id=435&eventid=373
Autumn Epic - Sunday 5th October 2008: http://www.cyclosport.org/article.aspx?id=172&eventid=36
Anybody interested in these rides? It's well into the season and we're all so damn fit and 'ard now, would be a shame to not put it to use...

Re: Sportives this season
I'm lazing this morning so not on the Sunday ride - looks like ideal cycling weather this weekend though! Should practice my descending, didn't exceed 40mph much last weekend.
I'd really like to go back to France in September. There are various options with a couple of tour operators or simply the option of doing a DIY trip - book some B&Bs, and ride circular routes each day.
I hear the Pyrenean and Alpine raids are a bit beardy (Audaxers with panniers) but perhaps the others are suitable.

All quite pricey unfortunately and - crucially - uncertain levels of ability and attitude of the riders.
If anyone's interested, let me know.
